It’smy great privilege to pen down the Annual Report of the school for the Academicyear 2012-13.With prayers in our heart, the school reopened on 4thJune, 2012 and Mrs.Syama Sreenivasan took over as its new Principal. There is about 700 studentsfrom Pre-KG to XII. A team of 38 teachers render dedicated services for thecontinuous development of students. TheSchool secured 100% pass in AISSE for the9th consecutive year! 28 students appearedfor the AISSE March 2012,16 students got Distinction and 12 first class.Renjana Rand Renjitha R secured all AI’s.

Environment day celebration
·The School Environment Day celebration began with the planting of an applesapling on June5th, 2012

NavajeevanCharity Home was visited by a group of students and teachers on 12thOctober 2012.Thestudents distributed dresses and toiletries to them.

School Vegetable Garden
Theschool vegetable garden was developed by the school Eco-club. With the help ofthe Agricultural Department, Nattakom, a flourishing vegetable garden wasprepared. Regular monitoring and caring gave bountiful yield. The ‘VilaveduppuMahotsavam’ was inaugurated by Humble Home Minister Shri.ThiruvanchoorRadhakrishan on 3rd December, 2012.The money raised wascontributed towards the help rendered to a cancer patient, renovating a houseand also to construct a house.
On30thand 31stOctober 2012,Sahodaya Science Exhibition was held at Warwin School, Vaikom. Our SchoolParticipated in the exhibition for the first time and our budding scientistsMaster Brolin S. Thomas. Master Adithya Rajesh and Master Arjun K. won 2nd prize in the working modelcategory.On 6th November 2012 Fevicol Science Exhibitionwas held at school. Many students participated in it. Brolin S. Thomas, Arjun Kand Adithya Rajesh got first prize for the Ultra Modern City’ in the SecondarySection & Saira Susan, Sandra Vijukumar and Arya Suresh got first prize forthe ‘Conservation of Water’ in the U.P. Section.

Sahodaya State Youth Festival
TheCBSE State Youth Festival was held at Sanjos Public School, Choondacherry, Palafrom 11thto 13thNovember. AmalVinod secured first prize in Sanskrit Recitation and Naveen Kumar secured thirdPrize in English Essay Writing. Other participants secured ‘A Grade in theirrespective items.’
Children’sDay was celebrated on 14th November, 2012. Students of classIV-VII participated
inthe rally organized by Jawahar Balabhavan. Jawahar Balabhavan conducted variouscompetitions in Connection with children’s day celebration. Many of ourstudents bagged prizes in the competition Including Band and U.P. Section rallyand brought honour to the school. Ambika Varma secured first prize and she wasalso privileged to deliver a speech at the Inaugural Ceremony of the children’sDay Rally. Our School won the trophy for maximum participation in painting andmaximum participation from the Nursery section.

Students enthusiastically participated in the event. Food-Fest and Math’s Fair
Twofund raising programmes Food Fest and Math’s Fair were held at school on 20thDecember, 2012. Studentswhole-heartedly contributed to this ‘divine attempt’ by bringing homemade fooditems for sale. Students enthusiastically participated in the Math’s Fartheramount collected from the two programmes was donated to the needy people in theschool’s neighborhood.
OurSchool celebrated Christmas on 19th and 21st December. A variety show was held withChristmas Message, Bible reading and tableau depicting the birth of JesusChrist and arrival of Santa. This year we made the Christmas Celebration trulymeaningful and a special one by organizing a Medical Camp. A team of doctorsfrom Rotary Club conducted free Medical checkup for the members of thecommunity and school. It was a great honour for our school to be the platformfor flagging off the Mother palliative care unit of Kottayam District. Flaggingceremony was rendered by Honorable Municipal Chairman Shri. Santhosh Kumar.Twoseminars were held on December 21st on the Topic ‘Waste Management” byShri Sasiappan,Suchitwa Mission and ‘Know Your Food’ by Prof Valasala Kumar;Retired Principal, Nattakom Government College.
Everystudent of Class X made an unforgettable trip to Mysore and Coorg from 6thto 8thDecember, 2012 Studytour of LKG - Class IX to different sites was between 8thand 13thJanuary, 2013.

Students were sorted out and made tojoin in different clubs according to their skill and taste. Students from VI toX were selected for the club. There were club activities on every Thursday. TheThree language clubs were held in every alternative weeks. We conducteddebates, spelling test, role-play etc. in our club time. Anamika from XBdelivered a speech on teacher’s day. In regard to Gandhi Jayanti celebrationLakshmi P. Ramesh from X A delivered a speech. She highlighted the divine qualitiesof Gandhiji and the children were inspired by the same. On 20th December a foodfest was conducted to raise fund towards the Nallapadam Project, we submitted amemorandum to the district. Municipal Authority to draw their attention to the situationof scarcity of water in the school neighborhood including 16 houses.
Belmont school Science club met every Thursday.During the club meeting we conducted quiz, debates and seminars. Belmont schoolscience club conducted a seminar on “rocket Propulsion” In association withX’mas celebration, science club members conducted a medical camp &distributed clothes & medicines to the nearby people.
SOCIAL SCIENCE CLUB
We conducted a quiz competition in connectionwith the Independence Day. As a part
of onam celebration we gave provisionand dresses for a poor family in our neighbourhood.We celebrated Gandhi Jayantion Oct 2nd.On that day children were asked to clean the school premises and the streetsnearby. We celebrated the Republic day on 26th January.A Seminar on waste management was conducted on 22nd Dec.2012. A compost pit was made in the school Compound to dump the waste. Thiswill be used as manure for our vegetable garden. We are planning to install abio-gas plant in our school. Charts and posters were made to observe specialdays.
Math’s club conducted a game based onmultiple of 3 and multiple of 5 and also conducted math’s quiz competition.Students were divided into two groups and were named group A and group B. GroupA consisted of boys and Group B of girls. Math’s club of our school conducted counselingclasses for the students of class X A & X B. The class was taken by Sri. Sasikumar(Instructor of Govt. Poly Technique). His class motivated the children a lot. Math’sclub conducted Math’s Fair to raise fund to give financial aid to the needy peoplein our school neighbourhood.Maths club in co-operation with Midas Milage Ltd.undertook the task of constructing a new house and also renovated another housefor a family badly in need of support and help.
On June 5th 2012, our schoolcelebrated “Environment Day’ by planting a sapling of an
apple tree on the school premises by ourPrincipals Smt. Syama Sreenivasan and Prof. T.R. Krishnankutty and the Eco-clubmembers. On 28th July 2012, ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ was celebrated byconducting a seminar ‘Punarjani’ along with Vembanad Samrakshana Samithi. Thefunction was inaugurated by the Honorable District Collector, Smt. Mini Antony,by planting a sapling and distributing vegetable seeds to the community membersand students. The Collector also gave a useful and very informative talk to thechildren. Soil conservation officer Shri. P.N. Premkumar conducted a seminar on‘How to save our (earth) Soil. From the month of August 2012 an Ecofriendly vegetablegarden was being prepared in a large scale. Vegetables like snake gourd cucumber,beans, bitter gourd, Amaranths were cultivated. Students from Eco-Club members activelyparticipated in the process of nurturing these crops. 3rd December 2012 was agolden day in the history of Belmont school and for Eco-club members. ‘HarvestFestival’ was celebrated on that day. Honorable Home Minister Sri.Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Harvest Festival. On 21-12-2012 avegetable stall was put up as a fund raising programme and sold vegetables,vegetable seeds, saplings etc. As a part of the Nallapadom Programme we took aneed analysis among our neighborhood and we provided help for the needy, suchas giving them seeds and saplings, medical checkup etc.
We gave more importance to practical knowledge.So most of our activities were based on that. We conducted 1) Quiz programmes 2)Drawing & Painting Competition related to nature 3) Debate 4) CartoonCompetition 5) Essay writing 6) Poster design competition7) Discussion onnature related problems and collected nature related news from different magazinesand pasted them on the school notice board 8) Supplied ‘Snehakkudukka’ to allfloors in our school
PALLIATIVE CARE CLUB
The first School Palliative Care Clubwas a new feather to the cap of Belmont. On 17thJanuary 2013, it was inaugurated by Dr. Fabelio Mathew, the General Secretary,Mother Palliative Care Unit and other dignitaries, by lighting the lamp. Wehave 20 club members consisting of 2 teachers and 18 students.
Music club functions ones every weekon Thursdays. There are 32 children in Music club from class III to V. Themembers of the club are taught various songs including prayer song for Assembly,national anthem, special practise isgivenduring school youth festival, Sahodaya Youth Festival for group song, patrioticsong etc.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE CLUB
The general knowledge club is being conductedon every Thursdays. 30 students from
Class IV and V are the members of thisclass. The club has the following activities.
1. News reading
2. Quiz programmes
3. Discussion of current affairs,general knowledge questions etc. News reading and current affairs create ahabit of reading newspaper among the students. The quiz session develop thehabit of searching knowledge, improving their knowledge and mastering theirability. This Session helps them to create enthusiasm and interest in acquiringmore and more knowledge. They collect and cut pictures and paste them in theirG.K. Book. This encourages them in a positive thinking attitude in their life.
